Privacy policy
Effective 20 October 2026. This policy describes this personal installation of Hermes Drive, its Google Drive integration and this information website. It does not describe every feature of other software that may share the Hermes name.
Data accessed and purpose
The application uses the Google Drive API to create, find, upload, download and verify backup files that it creates or that the operator specifically makes available to it. It processes file contents and technical metadata such as file names, identifiers, sizes, folder membership, permissions and integrity hashes only to carry out the operator's backup, verification and recovery tasks.
Google access is limited to the drive.file permission. The application does not request Gmail messages, contacts, Calendar data or unrestricted access to all Drive files.
Storage and safeguards
Backup files are stored in the operator's Google Drive, with local working copies on the operator-controlled computer or server. Technical records are stored there to track archive status and verify integrity. OAuth credentials are kept in access-controlled local or server files, separate from this website. This website has no access to those files, credentials or archive directories.
Connections to Google Drive and this website use HTTPS. Backup files are kept private; the utility does not intentionally publish them or create public sharing links.
Sharing and service providers
Google processes Drive data to provide the storage and API service. The operator's hosting provider supplies the infrastructure on which the private utility and this website run. Google user data is not sold, used for advertising, or transferred for unrelated purposes. The Drive backup integration does not send Google file contents to AI models for training or inference.
Hermes Drive's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Retention, deletion and access control
Backups and technical records remain until the operator deletes them or applies an explicitly chosen retention policy; this installation does not promise automatic deletion after a fixed period. The operator can delete Drive copies in Google Drive and separately remove local copies and records. Revoking access does not itself delete existing backups.
The operator can disconnect the application through Google Account third-party connections. Once authorization is revoked, the application cannot continue using that authorization to access Drive.
This website
These pages contain no analytics, advertising, cookies, forms or third-party embedded content. They do not collect account sign-ins or backup uploads. Hosting and network infrastructure necessarily processes connection information such as IP addresses and request details to serve and protect the site; operational error records may include such details.
Contact and updates
This utility is operated for personal use. Questions or deletion requests should be directed to the operator, using the support contact displayed on the application's Google consent screen or an existing direct contact channel. Changes to this policy will be posted here with an updated effective date.
